A Destination Worth The Journey

When I talk with people about my situation, most often they feel sorry for me. They can never imagine what I am going through and insist they would die if told to restrict any foods. My response to this is simple. My life didn't end, it began.

I remember my doctor in Anchorage saying to me, "You will feel so good once you stop eating these foods that you won't want them again." I am here to tell you this is true. Don't get me wrong, there are still times I'd love to sink my teeth into a large pizza & bread sticks or devour that cinnamon roll, but in the end, I prefer feeling and looking great everyday to the 5 minutes of fulfillment I would get from them.

My life has changed. I am not who I once was, nor who I imagined being. All my struggles, restrictions, and changes created this person who I am honored to call myself. When I take a moment to reflect on my journey, I am amazed at my strides and grateful for each step. No piece of cheesecake or fried chicken could taste better than that.

Do not think negatively of what life gives you. You never know where it's going to take you or who it will turn you into.

As always,

Here's to Life, Love, Health and Happiness! Cheers!
